When an image only shows as a link

Hi all,
I've no idea if it's just my own set up - but every now and then when I post an image into a message it will show as an image while I'm in the edit window, but then when I hit the submit button it only shows up in the post proper as a link.
If this happens to you there's a fix
Click on the "edit" button for your post.
Click on the "Go advanced" button (just below the text area)
Now click on the "preview post" button (next to submit)
Finally just hit the "submit" button in the usual way.
Problem solved.
But is it just me or does it happen to you too?

You are not alone.;)
Like you I've had that happen a few times, and doing the same as you fixed it as well.
However it hasn't happened to me for quite a while now.
Last time I checked on vBulletin's own forum there were quite a few threads/posts about quirks and problems with the "enhanced WYSIWYG" editor, although I can't remember a thread about this one specifically.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

You just have to make sure the BB code is correct and it helps being in the view format that shows the code.
<<< remove the spaces after img
URL GOES HERE <<< remove the spaces after url

EXAMPLE:=
URL GOES HERE = http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/masthead/martinLogo.gif0 -
Erm...
The problem is with the wysiwyg editor. This is point and click to add images or links into a post. So the right BB-Code is inserted - it's just that the software sometimes fails to render them correctly.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Thought I'd take the opportunity to point out there's new bbcode been added a while back called noparse.
So now you can just surround the code you're explaining with noparse tags and they'll stay as text so you don't have to do the "remove the spaces" thing.
eg.
[noparse][noparse][/noparse][/noparse]
will display as:
[noparse][/noparse]

No parse has been around ages.
In advanced view remove the tick from "automatically parse links in text".so you don't have to do the "remove the spaces" thing.
The spaces was so you could see the code, no spaces code is hidden.
But not sure how you did it?0 -
I may be missing something here but why not use the little yellow postcard icon and paste the url in there0

That is what squeaky is using, but the site inserts the wrong code for the selection.
Or at least that is what I think squeaky means, I normaly just use the code manualy.0 -

Yep.
Using the insert image icon when posting using the wysiwyg editor will show the image correctly while you are in the edit mode.
But then, when you hit the submit button to post - the post itself "sometimes" doesn't show the image - it just shows the URL.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. The option in your screenshot is only to stop links being parsed.
The code
[noparse] [noparse]Put the code here[/noparse][/noparse] is new (as far as I know) and lets you display bbcodes on the forum without them being converted
So I can now write
[noparse]hellow[/noparse]
rather than having to write:
hellpe <--remove space first0 -

Yep. Exactly the same for me. Although recently the WYSIWYG editor hasn't done that at all.
One of the times it did happen I edited the post and switched the editor mode to show the BBCode, and it displayed code that had nothing wrong with it. When I then saved the post the image worked.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
